featuring activities and opportunities especially relevant for science

The Global Dialogues group will consist of 15-20 students representing all CoS majors and classes (sophomore-senior) and we aim to include equal numbers of domestic and international students.

 | | COSINE (College of Science Instructional Nightly Enrichment) is a FREE
tutoring program to help students succeed in first year science courses.
COSINE offers evening tutoring right in your own backyard. Our goal is
to help you develop problem-solving skills needed to do your homework.

Learn Beyond the Classroom
and Score Some Points
|

- It
is time to update your Learning Beyond the Classroom portfolio and
score some points. You have done lots of experiential learning, so
take some time and submit reports on activities already completed.
- May
2022 graduates: remember that you must have completed the program by
the end of January 2022 in order to earn the LBC certificate.
- If
you have submitted a report, check and see if you have been asked to
supply more information. If you find that you have received “0”
points on a report, click on your score and you will see what questions
you have been asked to answer. Resubmit your report with the
required information so that your LBC points can be updated.
- Do
you need financial support to pursue an experiential learning
activity? Are you going to a conference? Studying
abroad? Doing community service? Apply for an LBC

have been actively engaging, learning, and networking! We will
implement the impactful ways that Sally Luzader and Julie Cox shared to
build our personal board of trustees to help guide our paths both
personally and professionally. Our social committee hosted a
pumpkin painting event and individual teams are gathering to have fun
together. Our newsletter and social media committees are
highlighting WISP happenings, students, and updates in the field of
science. WISP is supporting various events on campus,
including the Presidential Lecture Series on Environment, the Honors
College Series on Space Exploration, and the Undergraduate Research
Expo. We recently met with Old Master, Dr. Michelle Ludwig of the Baylor
College of Medicine regarding the medical profession, health
disparities and recommendations that undergraduate students could
implement now to prepare for their future. |

Discovery Park Announces DURI projects
for Spring 2022
Student Applications Being Accepted
|
|
Discovery Park has posted new research projects for
Spring 2022 as part of the Discovery Park Undergraduate Research
Internship (DURI). The DURI program provides opportunities for
undergraduate students to work with faculty on cutting-edge research in
the areas of global security, health and sustainability. Solutions will
be researched by combining faculty and students with two or more
distinct disciplinary strengths in each faculty-defined project.
Undergraduates can see the current list of DURI projects and apply for the spring session on the DURI website.
The student application deadline is Nov. 12. Faculty project
supervisors will then review all eligible student applications before
making final selections. Students will be notified of their acceptance
after that date with a target of Nov. 24. |
